Meyer Sound UPQ-D3 Weather-Protected Large Point-Source Loudspeaker with 3-Pin XLR
The UPQ-D3 delivers an incredibly consistent polar response and a gentle coverage rolloff that extends evenly out to its 10 dB points of 100° by 100°. Thanks to meticulous research in Meyer Sound's anechoic chamber, the horn offers smooth and consistent performance, with a remarkably consistent beamwidth in both horizontal and vertical planes. The UPQ D3 horn also provides uniform attenuation for all frequencies outside the specified beamwidth.
Standard Weather Protection
Meyer Sound designs for an IP rating of IPX4 (see “IP Ratings” on page 37) for Standard Weather Protection, which includes:
- Wood treatment: Before cabinet manufacturing, the raw wood gets a special treatment to penetrate and stabilize wood fibers against temperature and humidity extremes.
- Cabinet finishing: Assembled cabinets receive a highly impervious finish with a sealing primer and finishing topcoat, applied to both surfaces (one coat inside, two outside). The final step is a two-part modified acrylic urethane like military applications.
- Driver treatment: All cone drivers are coated with a water-resistant sealant.
- Exterior protection: Grille frames are coated to resist corrosion, and custom gaskets and stainless steel fasteners are used for cabinet-mounted components.
- Removable rain hood: The rain hood shields connectors even in windy rain.
