Designed as a field recorder, the AJA Ki Pro is small and portable, perfect for creating "ready-to-edit" professional digital video. It supports an Apple "file-based" workflow by recording standard Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files on industry standard media. You can choose between removable 34mm ExpressCards or a removable storage module, with two types of storage modules available - a 2.5” SATA hard drive (supplied with the base system) or an optional SolidState-Drive (SSD) module. When removed, these storage modules function as a standard FireWire 800 drive when connected to a Mac.

The multi-purpose mechanical design and small form factor of the Ki Pro allow for both "stand-alone" and camera configurations. In standalone mode, it easily connects to a camera on a desk or flat surface. In a camera configuration, use the optional "Exo-skeleton" frame to mount it between the camera and a tripod, giving you flexible positioning and easy access to controls.

Internally, the Ki Pro natively supports the Apple ProRes 422 codecs in hardware, enabling realtime capture directly to Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files. While the camera records to its own tape or file-based memory, Ki Pro can simultaneously capture the media as ProRes, making it instantly ready to edit when the removable storage module is connected to a Mac.
